Rosamund's Bower Strategy

Keep the next useful rank within reach.

The guards determine your immediate obligations. The waste heaps give you room to plan: where you put each unplayable stock card affects both this pass and the next.

Look through the guards before choosing waste moves

The foundation needs one particular rank at a time. An available guard of that rank must be played first. A matching inner guard remains blocked while its outer partner is present, so distinguish a visible card from an available card.

When two exposed guards share the required rank, examine their inner partners. Clearing an arm can unlock a useful card once the reserve runs out. While the reserve remains, each outer-card removal instead reveals a replacement guard.

Build useful waste orders

Only a heap's top card can leave it. Suppose you can put an unplayable 8 onto a heap headed by 7. Later, a foundation 9 could take the 8 and then expose the 7 for the next move. Putting that 8 onto a 9 would not create the same immediate follow-up.

This does not mean every heap should follow a rigid order. There are only three of them, and you must accommodate every unplayable stock card. Compare which placement hides the least useful top card and which offers a later chain.

Inspect heaps before collecting them

Use View heap to see its bottom-to-top order. That is also the order in which its cards will appear on the next pass. Choose a first heap whose early cards look useful for the current foundation rank and the exposed guards.

Reordering the heaps changes which group arrives first; it does not sort or shuffle the cards inside a heap. The three-redeal limit makes that distinction worth checking before pressing Redeal.

Leave the royal pair until the end

Henry and Rosamund are visible throughout the game but unavailable for ordinary building. The King of Clubs becomes playable only after the other 50 cards have reached the foundation; the Queen of Hearts follows last.

An early foundation Ace therefore needs another King. Plan around the cards actually available in the stock, guard cross, and waste heaps.

Use a repeatable deal to compare decisions

Undo lets you compare waste placements and collection orders. Restart preserves the seed so you can replay the whole plan. Hints identify a legal action, but a choice among waste heaps still needs your judgment.
