When to use merci
Save the merci draw for positions that immediately unlock foundation flow or free multiple blocked ranks. Wasting it on a low-impact move usually ends the game.

This variant keeps classic La Belle Lucie structure and two redeals, then grants one final merci draw: a single rescue move from a buried card after all normal play is exhausted.
Select a top card, then pick a highlighted destination. After redeals are exhausted, one merci draw can rescue a buried card.
