Variant strategy

Scorpion is won by suit structure, not just motion.

Scorpion gives you strong movement powers, but demands strict same-suit construction. The best decisions are the ones that make a full King-to-Ace run more realistic later, even if they do not look dramatic right away.

Core Scorpion tips

  • Expose hidden cards aggressively because the early face-down blockers limit the whole board.
  • Treat empty columns as premium space reserved for King-led groups that unlock multiple suit chains.
  • Build with the end goal in mind: complete same-suit runs, not just temporary local improvements.
  • Use freer movement to improve suit structure before the reserve deal makes the tableau tighter.
  • Avoid creating short-term mixed progress that strands high cards with no realistic route to a full run.

Reserve timing matters

Once the reserve cards are dealt, the board becomes less flexible. That makes early cleanup and suit organization especially important before pressure increases.

Common mistake

Many legal moves in Scorpion are distractions. If a move does not improve hidden-card access, suit alignment, or King-column usage, it may not be helping at all.
