Royal Quadrille rules

Royal Quadrille, also called La Française, uses one standard deck. Its eight same-suit foundations form a square: hearts above, diamonds below, spades to the left, and clubs to the right. Each suit has an Ace line and a Deuce line, with the Deuce to the right.

Draw cards singly onto the waste. The Aces and Deuces become foundation bases as they appear. Only the exposed waste card can move to a foundation. Each line has a fixed sequence that stops at its final King or Queen; the rank order never wraps. When the stock empties, you may turn the waste over twice, without shuffling.

Rules source: Quadrille (patience).

Reading the square

Each rank of a suit belongs to exactly one line. Odd ranks, including Jack and King, belong to the Ace line; even ranks, including Queen, belong to the Deuce line. Watch the next required rank under each pile and play available waste cards before drawing over them.
