Why play Colorado?

Colorado rewards foresight. With twenty waste piles you have flexibility, but each placement decision ripples through the rest of the deal — careful management of both ascending and descending foundations is essential.

Rules overview

Using two standard 52-card decks, deal cards one at a time onto twenty waste piles or eight foundations. Foundations go up (A→K) and down (K→A) by suit. Top cards of waste piles are always available for foundation play. Empty piles auto-refill from the stock.

Strategy tips

  • Prioritise moving Aces and Kings to foundations early to open the ascending and descending builds.
  • Keep low-ranked cards spread across waste piles so they are accessible when foundations advance.
  • Use the stock strategically — every card you deal must go somewhere, so plan pile usage carefully.
